The Ludo collection reinterprets the iconic designs introduced by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1934, fusing innocent beauty and sophisticated charm. The original Ludo bracelet, named after the founding family of the House, was an immediate success. This piece evokes the shape of the belt, a fashion accessory that was all the rage at the time, and its soft mesh and precious stone buckle made it stand out. This bracelet inspired the first Ludo Secret watch in 1935.
This year, Van Cleef & Arpels introduces a new aesthetic with this guilloché yellow gold secret watch. The patterns are inspired by traditional techniques used by the House in its accessories, precious objects, jewelry and timepieces since the 1910s. Guilloché, passed down from generation to goldsmithing and tableware, is a technique which consists of engrave delicate parallel lines on precious metals, gemstones, mother-of-pearl, etc. The lines created using this technique reflect light like the sun shines through clouds, creating exquisite nuances in the interaction of light that changes depending on the time of day.

The two rose gold variants of the Ludo Secret watch are each set with pink sapphires and diamonds that gradually increase in diameter from the center. To create this setting, the House's gemologists use their know-how to select a set of precious stones equal in brilliance and saturation, and playing in perfect harmony. Like the original Ludo, this flexible brick mesh bracelet features a design reminiscent of a belt. Like a finely woven fabric, each link is carefully assembled by hand to maximize connectivity and flexibility. Continuing the glorious tradition of Van Cleef & Arpels' Secret watches, press the two crimped designs together to open the flap and reveal a white guilloché mother-of-pearl dial.
